Job summary

Dolby in San Francisco seeks a Staff QA Engineer to lead testing for cinema imaging products and integrated theatrical systems. This hands-on role requires regular on-site work in Dolby’s hardware labs.

You will own test strategy, lab readiness, system configuration, execution, risk assessment, and release‑quality reporting across complex imaging programs while coordinating with external partners and advancing AI‑assisted QA tools to improve efficiency and coverage.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of QA, systems testing, hardware validation, or related field with ownership of test plans and releases.
• Experience leading QA for video, imaging, projection, display, cinema, or complex hardware-software systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead QA strategy and end‑to‑end test ownership for cinema imaging products and systems.
• Set up, configure, and maintain cinema hardware labs and test environments.
• Perform hands‑on testing across hardware and software boundaries and report results.
• Develop test plans, test cases, matrices, and release criteria.
• Own picture‑quality validation, calibration, and metadata handling across configurations.
• Troubleshoot complete cinema systems and drive issues to resolution with engineering.
• Provide QA leadership across concurrent programs and communicate risks to stakeholders.
• Interface with external hardware partners on test standards and release readiness.
• Produce defect reports, lead triage, and verify fixes.
• Mentor QA engineers on imaging test design and lab practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve test efficiency with automation and AI tools.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced environment.
