Job summary

The GEO Group is seeking a Registered Nurse, Chronic Care, to deliver comprehensive nursing care within a correctional setting while upholding security and patient safety standards. You will perform assessments, administer medications per orders, and coordinate Chronic Disease Clinic scheduling, ensuring confidentiality of medical records and collaboration with physicians and staff.

Ideal candidates have RN licensure, 21+ years of age, and 2+ years of direct nursing experience; we offer

Qualifications

• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
• Associate’s or Bachelor's degree from an approved program; graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
• Must have a current, unrestricted RN license in the state the facility is located.
• Two (2) years of direct work experience preferred.
• Must possess competence in crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, medical nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care.
• Must be able to work without direct, immediate supervision in performing nursing diagnosis and provide appropriate follow through treatment.

Responsibilities

• Perform a complete physical assessment and medical history for detainees entering the correctional system.
• Assist physician with sick calls and minor surgical procedures; refer issues to the physician as needed.
• Ensure implementation of physician orders and administer medications per formulary.
• Document patient contacts and maintain confidentiality of medical records.
• Coordinate Chronic Disease Clinic scheduling and supervision of LPN staff.
• Maintain security while dispensing medications and follow safety protocols for drug handling.
• Prepare and file routine and special reports; ensure compliance with policies and accreditation.
