Job summary

The GEO Group is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care in a correctional setting, while maintaining patient confidentiality and operational security. The role requires clinical assessment, medication administration, and coordination of chronic disease care.

Ideal candidates will have an RN license in the state, 2+ years of nursing experience, and proficiency with healthcare software.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in nursing; current RN license in the state.
• Two years of direct RN experience preferred with competency in crisis intervention, medical emergencies, physical assessment, nursing care, and psychiatric nursing care.
• Ability to work without direct supervision and follow through treatment.
• Proficiency with computers and healthcare software.

Responsibilities

• The Registered Nurse performs a complete physical assessment and medical history on detainees entering the correctional system.
• Assists physician with sick call by screening patients and performing minor procedures.
• Ensures the implementation of physician orders and administers medications per formulary.
• Conducts observation rounds and documents progress in notes; evaluates symptoms and reports problems to management.
• Maintains security while dispensing medications and prevents drug hoarding; destroys needles/syringes.
• Prepares regular and special reports and ensures compliance with accreditation requirements.
• Documents detainee contacts and maintains confidentiality of medical records.
• Coordinates Chronic Disease Clinic scheduling and supervises LPN staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
