Job description

Description

Do you want to make a positive change in the lives of children & youth?

Are you a team player who can implement behavior management strategies to improve the lives of others?

At Devereux, as a Behavioral Specialist, you will have the opportunity to work with children ages 8-21 with BH/MH diagnoses and will impact their lives by unlocking their full potential daily.

Many youths in this program have skill deficits in impulse control, emotion regulation, and developmental skills, often due to trauma. This trauma can affect their resilience, leading to feelings of emptiness, fear, abandonment, impulsivity, emotion dysregulation, and self-destructive behaviors. These traits can result in challenges in school, family conflicts, dependency, delinquency, lack of peer support, and difficulties in vocational and life skills.

Every day as a Behavioral Specialist, you will…
  • Supervise and assist individuals in implementing program plans to improve social, emotional, physical, and self-help skills.
  • Develop drafts of D-PBIS Lesson Plans for review and implementation by the multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensure the safety of the individuals you work with.
  • Engage in activities such as ADLs, recreational, and social activities.
  • Address and redirect inappropriate behaviors.
  • Implement treatment plan goals and objectives.
What we offer:
  • Opportunities for growth in behavioral health and human services fields.
  • A supportive, fast-paced environment where you can participate in treatment planning.
  • Paid training and professional development through the ASCEND Career Accelerator Program.
  • Benefit eligibility after 30 days of employment. Learn more at MyDevereuxBenefits.org.
