Responsibilities:
- Monitoring and maintaining patient safety according to established procedures and protocols.
- Ensuring a safe environment by checking items brought into the unit, assisting the Registered Nurse in managing stimulation levels, conducting environmental and patient checks, and reporting risks.
- Supporting patients with routine activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating.
- Identifying and reporting unsafe behavioral changes, providing respectful redirection, and setting limits as needed.
- Providing therapeutic care using established behavior management protocols to meet treatment goals.
- Assisting in organizing and conducting group programs and activities.
- Developing supportive relationships with patients and families, identifying their needs, and incorporating this into care plans.
- Recording patient data such as vital signs, intake, and output, and collecting specimens as per procedures.
- Documenting medical data and care in patient records according to standards.
- Participating as part of a multidisciplinary team for assigned patients.
- Assisting in planning and implementing treatment plans, and communicating patient status and observations.
- Engaging in patient care rounds and team meetings.
- Maintaining current knowledge of occupational practices through professional development activities.
Schedule:
Working 32 hours/week, with day/evening rotations, occasional nights, every other weekend, and rotating holidays.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED required; Associate’s Degree preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at start date.
- De-escalation training (Crisis Prevention Institute or equivalent).
- De-escalation training within one month of hire for new hires at this level.
- Experience in a behavioral health or educational setting required; pediatric experience preferred.
- Internal: 1-2 years as a Behavioral Health Tech at BCH.
- External: 1-2 years as a Behavioral Health or similar role in a comparable setting.
