Job summary

Alamance County Library in Mebane, NC, is seeking an energetic librarian with experience in children0programming. You will plan and present programs for ages 0–18, coordinate teams, and manage youth materials purchases.

You will cultivate school and youth partnerships to promote reading and digital literacy, while supporting community engagement and customer service initiatives. Strong communication and multitasking are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires MLS or BA with 3 years in children0library programming.
• Three years of experience with children and customer service required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, promote, and present children0programming for ages 0 to 18 at partner sites or with branches.
• Coordinate the Children0team to plan system-wide learning programming, especially Summer Reading.
• Manage monthly purchasing of youth materials in coordination with the Collection Development Librarian.
• Cultivate partnerships with local schools, childcare providers and youth organizations to promote reading and digital literacy.
• Assist with the library0community engagement efforts.
• Identify outreach opportunities and stay informed of activities for children and families within the community.
• Pursue professional development through workshops and webinars.
• Staff service desks as part of regular public service duties.
• Troubleshoot minor technology related issues, keeping management aware of issues.
