Job summary

Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh seeks a Children’s Librarian to support services for ages birth to 11 and their families. The role emphasizes equity, community engagement, and collaborative program planning in a busy urban library.

The position requires MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited school, a PA driver's license, and experience with children; 37.5 hours weekly including evenings and weekends. Compensation is $24.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited school.
• PA Driver’s license required.
• Experience working with children is required.
• Experience planning and presenting programs for ages birth to 11 preferred.
• Strong leadership, organization, and community engagement.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with youth-serving staff to implement Children's Services vision.
• Develop and promote programs reaching children and families in libraries and outreach locations.
• Build relationships with community partners serving children and families.
• Provide high-quality reference and readers advisory for children and families.
• Manage children's space, displays, and inventory.
