Job summary

IKEA in Paramus, NJ, is seeking a part-time Childcare Activity Area Associate for Småland. You will help create a safe, fun play space for children, register and supervise them, and assist customers as needed. The role supports other customer-experience tasks and requires flexibility with shifts.

Hours are 12–20 per week; evenings on Mon–Thu 4:30 PM–10:30 PM, and Fri–Sat 9:00 AM–10:30 PM. Starting pay is $19.50/hour. Must pass a background check and drug test.

Qualifications

• Experience in childcare and/or retail customer service & cash handling preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification training provided.
• Physical demands requirements: lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to creating a pleasant and safe environment for the children that visit our play facility.
• Register children, monitor and entertain children while in the playroom, and maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
• Participate in the planning and execution of children’s activities both in and outside of Småland.
• Build meaningful and empathetic relationships with children and their caretakers.
• strictly adhere to all IKEA play facility and safety & security policy and procedures.
• Support in other areas of the customer experience function as needed, such as cashier and greeter role to provide additional coverage when needed.

JOB TYPE - Permanent, Part-time

HOURS – 12-20 hours per week. Must have working availability on Mondays to Thursdays from 4:30PM to 10:30PM. Must have complete open working availability on Fridays & Saturdays from 9:00AM to 10:30PM.

The hourly pay rate for this role is $19.50.
