Job summary

Navy Region Southwest Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) seeks a CYP Leader to provide direct care and instruction for children and youth from 6 weeks to 18 years, while mentoring CY Program Assistants and guiding program staff. Qualifications

• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate programs for 6 weeks to 18 years.
• Knowledge of child and youth development principles and practices.
• Skills to apply Federal/State laws on child abuse prevention.
• Ability to understand interests and motivation of individuals/groups in CYP.
• Skill in program planning, organizing, and employee scheduling.
• Ability to provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to CY Program staff.
• Ability to identify and respond to emergency situations.
• Ability to train employees on topics including illnesses and child safety.
• Ability to develop curriculum outlines and lesson plans/guides.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken.
• One year of CY-02 level experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Mentors assigned CY Program Assistant team.
• Works with senior employees to provide instruction and training.
• Assists CY Program Assistants with completing Standardized Module Training.
• Mentors and role-models for staff with guidance from T&C Specialist.
• Models appropriate behaviours for working with children and youth.
• Assists with recording observations and charts progress of team members.
• Plans activities for participants and reviews for appropriateness.
• Implements activities and events meeting physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs.
• Sets up displays and arranges snacks or meals where applicable.
• Maintains indoor/outdoor environment and inventories supplies.
• Ensures safety, supervision, and compliance with DoD policies.
• Interacts professionally with parents and staff; conducts conferences as needed.
• Observes and documents developmental progress for planning.
• Ensures DoD accreditation and applicable laws compliance.
