Job summary

The State of Oregon’s Department of Human Services in Newport seeks a Child Welfare Supervisor 2 to lead a team, safeguard children, and coordinate services. You will guide staff, ensure policy compliance, and collaborate with agencies to advance safety and permanency for children.

Ideal candidates bring strong leadership, extensive child welfare experience, and the ability to build partnerships across departments while maintaining high standards of service delivery.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in human services or related field PLUS two years lead/supervision experience.
• OR a bachelor’s degree not in human services with Oregon Caseworker Competency coursework PLUS two years lead/supervision experience.
• OR an associate degree PLUS three years of human services-related experience (two years lead work).
• OR an associate degree PLUS coursework equivalent to Oregon Caseworker Competency with two years lead work.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with policies, program standards, rules, and legal requirements through case/workload reviews.
• Oversee service delivery, assess client needs, allocate personnel and resources.
• Collaborate with state agencies and community partners to coordinate services and planning.
• Supervise staff hiring, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
• Provide orientation and ongoing support, case consultation, and mentoring.
