Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Social Services is seeking a CWS Case Worker Assistant to support casework in assessment, family preservation, and foster care. The role includes arranging transportation, handling referrals, and assisting with administrative duties to help protect vulnerable children and adults.

Responsibilities include helping with visitation, parenting instruction, and safeguarding sensitive information.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and one year or more of child welfare relevant program experience.
• Associate Degree or higher may be substituted for all or part of the work requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides services to remedy abuse, neglect, exploitations or self-neglect of adults or children unable to protect themselves.
• Assists with family preservation, assessment, and foster care services as part of the casework team.
• Arranges transportation to resources in the community.
• Drafts correspondence, copies, faxes, emails and performs other administrative tasks.
• Makes referrals to service providers and supports team planning for clients.
• Supports transportation of children and collection of records as needed.
• Assists with visitation and parenting/household management instruction.
• Ensures proper handling of personal identifying information and safeguards agency networks and data.
• Performs shelter or emergency response duties as directed.
