Job summary

South Carolina Department of Social Services seeks a CWS Case Manager to perform child welfare investigations and provide services to vulnerable children and families. You will conduct rapid safety assessments, engage with families, and coordinate with law enforcement when needed.

Responsibilities include maintaining thorough case records, supporting safety planning, and completing mandatory training to sustain certification. A valid driver’s license and field work are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science.
• Bachelor's Degree in any other field and one year experience in a related field.
• Master's Degree or higher may substitute for required work experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs case management in the Child Welfare Investigations area per policy.
• Responds to intakes and conducts initial safety assessments using FAST.
• Maintains case records per DSS policy and GPS Practice Model in CAPSS.
• Engages families and partners with empathy and respect; coordinates with law enforcement when safety concerns arise.
• Ensures PII is protected and participates in shelter duties as directed.
• Completes required 20 hours of annual training and maintains child welfare certification.
