Johnston County is seeking a dedicated Child Support Establishment Agent to join the Child Support Enforcement unit. The role focuses on initiating and enforcing child support orders, establishing paternity, and preparing cases for court in collaboration with attorneys.

Responsibilities include gathering information from clients and agencies, conducting investigations, and presenting cases in court. Strong knowledge of child support processes, investigative procedures, and clear communication

Formación

• Bachelor's degree or Associate degree with 1 year experience in investigative, eligibility, judiciary or legal work
• High School Diploma with two years experience in investigative, eligibility, judiciary or legal work
• Ability to learn ACTS and other electronic systems
• Strong investigative and case preparation skills

Our team has an immediate opening for a Child Support Establishment Agent. Join us in our commitment to the health, safety and welfare of the public. This objective is achieved through the uniform enforcement of state and local laws.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Candidates in this classification are responsible for the initiation, organization, and enforcement of child support orders in the Child Support Enforcement (IV-D) program.
• Candidates are involved in the establishment of paternity and new support orders.
• This position will require in-depth investigation and preparation of cases for court, the enforcement and modification of court support orders, variables affecting a case and the independent role in presenting cases (with the attorney) in the courtroom.
• Meets with and responds to requests for information regarding cases from clients, various local, state and federal agencies, employers and attorneys.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of the Child Support Enforcement Program and applicable legal proceedings.
• Thorough knowledge of investigative procedures used in the program.
• Skill in operating a computer, including word processing and ability to learn ACTS and other electronic systems.
• Ability to establish rapport and interview, clients, absent parents, and other related sources and to implement investigative procedures.
• Ability to organize, analyze and summarize case information.
• Ability to perform basic math in calculating child support payments.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, absent parents, personnel in other agencies and states, court and law enforcement officials, employers, the public, supervisors and peers.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.

Desired Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree or
• Associates Degree in Business Administration or Paralegal or related degree and one (1) year experience in investigative, eligibility, judiciary or legal work; or
• High School Diploma with two (2) years experience in investigative, eligibility, judiciary or legal work.
