Job summary

CMHA-CEI—Families Forward Crisis Services in Lansing, MI seeks staff to assist children in acute behavioral health crisis and their families. You will support therapists and directly intervene with youths while ensuring a safe environment across office, community, and home settings.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of experience with children who have severe emotional disturbances, plus valid Michigan driver's license and reliable transportation.

Shift Incentive Opportunities:

• + $1.25/hour for hours worked 5pm - 12am
• + $2/hour for hours worked 12am - 8am
• + $3/hour for weekends worked Friday 5pm - Monday 8am

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of a Coordinator or Supervisor of Families Forward Crisis Services, staff serving Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic individuals in need of specialized behavioral health service providing a supportive atmosphere to children experiencing acute mental health crisis and their families. Provides assistance to therapists and interacts with consumers in a short-term crisis intervention program. Duties include a variety of supportive services and direct interventions with children experiencing behavioral health crisis. Transportation of consumers and families is possible. Responsible for maintaining a secure environment. Data collection. Services will be provided in the office, community and consumer’s home. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.

Requirements:

Minimum High School diploma or G.E.D.is required. A minimum of one (1) years’ experience working with children with severe emotional disturbance is required. Ability to problem solve crisis situations, de-escalate behavioral health crisis and provide crisis intervention with consumers both individually and in group meetings required. Ability to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and written form is required. Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use is required.

Conditional Employment Requirements:

Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a Michigan State Police clearance check, verification of an acceptable Michigan driving record, and pass a Central Registry Screening annually. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Salary/Hours:

$19.85 per hour. 0-19 hours per week.
