Job summary

African American Planning Commission Inc. seeks a Coordinator of Child Care & Recreation to lead a comprehensive early childhood development and recreational program, linking health and educational services, and expanding through grants and RFPs.

The role supervises staff, manages program data, plans training, ensures intake and progress notes, oversees the food program, and collaborates with the community to enrich children’s educational content.

Qualifications

• Qualified teacher with a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Development and a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or two years’ group-teacher experience for children under six.
• High skill level in written and verbal communication, independent judgment, and positive interpersonal relations.
• Excellent grant writing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Control the quality of services through supervision, case consultation, and monthly staff meetings.
• Provide oversight and weekly supervision to the Child Care and Recreation staff.
• Manage the collection and analysis of program data to generate reports and evaluate performance.
• Establish ongoing training and staff development to ensure professional, informed service and up-grade staff skills.
• Fill in whenever necessary as a teacher.
• Ensure equipment and materials are accessible and in good condition.
• Assist in planning the use of community resources to enrich the educational content.
• Ensure intake assessments are conducted on all children enrolled in the program.
• Ensure progress notes are maintained and up-to-date.
• Oversee the food program and kitchen.
• Perform other related duties as may be requested by agency heads.
