Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking staff for the Fitness Center child care program on-site at UAB St Vincent's 119. The role focuses on providing a safe, supervised environment for children during scheduled hours and maintaining a clean, orderly classroom.

Interactions with children and parents are essential, with strict adherence to intake procedures and prompt reporting of safety concerns. Qualifications include a high school diploma equivalency or one year of related experience; a BLS certification

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of relevant experience.
• Licensure/certification can substitute education or experience as applicable.
• BLS Provider within 1 month of hire; AHA or Red Cross accepted.

• Provide a safe environment for children.

• Keep the environment safe, clean and in good repair; report deficiencies to supervisor promptly.
• Follow approved procedures when accepting children for care coverage.

Job Description

Provide a safe environment for children.

• Ensure children are supervised at all times.
• Ensure the environment is safe, clean and in good repair. Report deficiencies to supervisor immediately.
• Follow acceptable protocol when accepting children for child care coverage.
• Interact with children and parents appropriately.
• Assist in maintaining the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor, and learning environment of the classroom while allowing for the expressive and creative involvement and interaction of children.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
