Job summary

UAB Medicine is hiring for an administrative support role at UAB St. Vincent's Birmingham North Tower to assist in an outpatient surgery center. The position involves greeting patients, handling calls, filing, and general clerical tasks to support clinicians and staff.

You will coordinate scheduling, maintain patient charts, assist with order entry processes, and help with meeting coordination and timekeeping. Licensure or certifications may substitute education/experience as applicable.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider preferred (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted).
• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors, answer/screen/route telephone calls, files, distribute mail and perform other general clerical duties.
• Communicate with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members about patient care according to protocol. Schedule patients for individual appointments and in a timely manner.
• Provide assistance with programs/software for Physicians/Clinicians through the order entry processes, transfers and discharges. Assemble and maintain patient charts.
• Coordinate meetings/schedules meetings/rooms with the appropriate person, send notices as requested. Maintain meeting minutes. Enter and maintain timekeeping changes and staff schedules in computer systems.
