Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Fitness Instructor in the Fitness department to design, organize, and lead exercise programs for diverse populations at UAB St Vincent's location. Instructors set their own schedule and play a key role in promoting general health and wellness within the community.

The role involves presenting educational programs, maintaining equipment, and ensuring participant safety across all classes and activities.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification required within 30 days of hire, accepted by AHA or ARC.
• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
• Professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

• Organize and instruct exercise classes for all fitness levels and ensure safe use of equipment.
• Develop and market general health and wellness programs.

Job Description

Provide instruction on physical fitness as it relates to all aspects of general health and wellness.

• Design fitness programs for various patient populations.
• Organize and instruct exercise classes for all fitness levels. Ensure that all participants are properly trained on the use of the facility's exercise equipment.
• Develop and market general health and wellness programs.
• Present educational lectures/programs throughout the community.
• Oversee and ensure appropriate use and maintenance of Fitness Center equipment.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association OR American Red Cross accepted. Required.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
