Job summary

UAB Medicine in Gardendale, AL is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join the Outpatient Primary Care clinic. You will obtain patient histories, perform assessments, order diagnostics, and manage common health conditions in a collaborative team.

Required: Master’s degree in Nursing, Alabama Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner certification, BLS; ACLS may be accepted in lieu of BLS. DEA credentialing may be preferred. Schedule is Monday–Friday at 2217 Decatur Hwy Gardendale.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.
• Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
• Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
• Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Master's degree of Nursing required.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

• BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) may be accepted in lieu of BLS Provider required.
• Certified Advanced Practice Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Drug Enforcement Admin credentialed from the Drug Enforcement Administration preferred.
