Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking an Administrative Support professional for the Emergency Department in Clanton, AL. This full-time night shift (7pm-7am) role involves front-desk clerical tasks, patient scheduling, and coordination of clinical operations.

The position supports physicians and staff with charting, timekeeping, and meeting logistics, with eligibility for benefits described by the employer.

Qualifications

• High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable job-specific experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors, answer/screen/route calls, file, distribute mail and perform general clerical duties.
• Communicate with patients, families, physicians and healthcare team about patient care; schedule patients for appointments in a timely manner.
• Assist with programs/software for physicians/clinicians through order entry processes, transfers and discharges; assemble and maintain patient charts.
• Coordinate meetings and rooms, send notices, maintain meeting minutes; enter and maintain timekeeping changes and staff schedules in computer systems.

Job Description

Perform administrative and clerical duties in support of an assigned clinical area.

• Greet patients and visitors, answer/screen/route telephone calls, files, distribute mail and performs other general clerical duties.
• Communicate with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members about patient care according to protocol. Schedule patients for individual appointment and in a timely manner.
• Provide assistance with programs/software for Physicians/Clinicians through the order entry processes, transfers and discharges. Assemble and maintain patient charts.
• Coordinate meetings/schedules meetings/rooms with the appropriate person, send notices as requested. Maintain meeting minutes. Enter and maintain timekeeping changes and staff schedules in computer systems.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
