Job summary

SanMar seeks an Enterprise Safety & Security Director to develop and lead the company-wide safety and security strategy. You will establish standards, governance, and long-term plans to protect people, facilities, assets, and operations while enabling growth.

You will build an enterprise risk-management approach across physical security, safety, continuity, and crisis readiness, partnering with leaders and external vendors to drive consistent practices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of related education and/or professional experience in security, safety, risk, asset protection, or related operations.
• Proven program-building, influence, communication, and change-leadership skills.
• Ability to build influence and alignment across the enterprise without direct authority, driving consistency, accountability, and adoption of safety and security standards.
• CPP, PSP, CSP, CHST, OHST or comparable certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead enterprise safety and security strategy, establishing standards and long-term plans that protect people, facilities, assets, and operations while supporting business growth.
• Build enterprise risk management for physical security, workplace safety, business continuity, crisis preparedness, and operational resilience.
• Partner with leaders across departments and with external vendors to identify risks and drive consistent practices.
• Lead risk assessments for facilities, operations, expansion projects, and site selection with recommendations to reduce risk.
• Establish enterprise standards for access control, visitor management, investigations, emergency response, threat assessment, workplace violence prevention, and physical security systems.
• Lead business continuity and crisis management programs, including incident response planning and tabletop exercises.
• Provide executive reporting on enterprise risks, security trends, incidents, audit findings, and program effectiveness, translating complex risks into practical decisions.
• Develop training, communication, and awareness programs that strengthen preparedness and culture of safety.
• Participate in Safety Committee and develop policy/guidance regarding safety regulations from agencies like DOSH, OSHA, EPA and DOT.
• Accompany inspectors for onsite visits and ensure responses for OSHA or other agencies.
• Monitor emerging risks and regulatory requirements, recommending proactive improvements to organizational resilience.
• Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies.
