Job summary

Middlesex Water Company is seeking an Enterprise Director, Safety, Security & Environmental (SSE) to craft and lead enterprise-wide SSE strategies and policies that promote a safe, secure and environmentally responsible workplace.

This senior role provides strategic leadership for occupational safety, physical security, environmental compliance, emergency preparedness and risk management while aligning with regulatory requirements and company goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in safety, environmental health, engineering or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership in safety, environmental or industrial operations.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA and applicable state regs.
• Demonstrated leadership building compliance-focused cultures.
• Strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute an integrated SSE strategy aligned with company pillars.
• Lead safety, environmental, security and regulatory initiatives across the enterprise.
• Drive prevention-focused culture and continuous improvement.
• Develop policies and procedures supporting regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
• Lead audits, incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Partner with regulators, emergency responders and stakeholders.
• Oversee training, performance metrics and governance of SSE programs.
