Job summary

The City University of New York seeks a Chief Diversity Officer to lead the development and administration of policies promoting compliance with federal and New York State laws and CUNY regulations. The CDO will supervise staff, drive diversity initiatives, and maintain confidentiality with faculty, staff and students.

Responsibilities include directing Equal Opportunity programs, overseeing investigations under Title VI/IX, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with OFCCP mandates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and eight years' relevant experience required.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school preferred.
• Master’s Degree in a related field preferred.
• Experience in a higher education institution conducting investigations and a record of success in EEO/AA.
• Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws such as Title VI, VII & IX.

Responsibilities

• Directs the implementation of the Equal Opportunity & Non-Discrimination policy and leads the Office of Diversity and Compliance.
• Investigates and oversees investigations under Title VI, VII, 504, and other disability laws.
• Responds to and investigates violations of the EEO/Non-Discrimination Policy and Sexual Misconduct policy.
• Leads preparation of internal and external reports including the Affirmative Action Plan.
• Collaborates with Counsel, HR and Public Safety on Title IX compliance and OFCCP mandates.
• Counsels administration, faculty and staff on EEO/AA policies and best practices.
• Monitors recruitment and retention processes for faculty and staff with equity review at key stages.
