Job summary

The Graduate Center, CUNY in New York City seeks an Executive Director of Institutional Equity/Chief Diversity Officer to lead investigations, develop policies, and drive compliance with ethics, equal opportunity, and Title IX requirements.

The role oversees recruitment, training, and data-driven diversity initiatives across GC, SOJ, MHC, and SLU, while serving on the senior leadership team and ensuring in-person/hybrid operations. A JD is preferred and residence in NYC is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and eight years related experience required.
• JD from an accredited law school preferred (for candidate).
• Experience conducting investigations of legal or policy violations and advising on discrimination matters.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and investigate allegations of violations of Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination Policy; conduct intake, assess, interview, review evidence, prepare reports.
• Respond to sexual misconduct policy violations with intake, assessments, interviews, and reporting.
• Maintain and update the case management system across GC, MHC, SOJ, SLU; ensure accurate records of investigation status.
• Oversee multi-level recruitment and selection processes; provide CDO review and salary offer approvals based on equity.
• Work with HR to ensure compliance with mandatory training across GC, SOJ, MHC, SLU; facilitate training sessions.
• Participate in policy development and strategic responses to sensitive issues; coordinate institutional response.
• Develop and deliver training materials on discrimination, harassment, equal opportunity, and related policies.
• Serve as Campus Ethics Officer; liaison with COELIG; oversee ethics training and reporting.
• Oversee and review development of annual evaluations for Veterans and Disabilities employment; ensure compliance.
• Review workforce data to assess diversity and underrepresentation; provide analyses to leadership.
• Serve as Domestic Violence Agency Liaison; coordinate resources and reporting.
• Participate in initiatives to update compliance websites and communications.
