Job summary

Badger Murphy Food Service in the Chicago area is seeking an Outside Foodservice Sales Representative to develop bakery and foodservice business throughout Chicagoland. You will build and maintain relationships with customers and prospects, visiting them regularly.

The role requires a relationship-driven approach, knowledge of the foodservice industry, and willingness to travel the Chicagoland area. Spanish-English fluency is a plus and experience with bakeries or restaurants is preferred.

Qualifications

• Prior sales, customer service, or business development experience.
• Fluency in Spanish and English is a plus.
• Experience selling to bakeries, restaurants, food manufacturers, or other foodservice businesses is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop new bakery and foodservice business throughout the Chicagoland area.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers.
• Regularly visit customers and prospective customers throughout the assigned territory.
• Communicate effectively with customers.
• Identify customer needs and recommend products, services, and solutions that help their businesses succeed.
• Prospect for new accounts through cold calling, referrals, in-person visits, networking, and other sales activities.
• Grow sales within existing accounts by identifying additional product opportunities.
• Prepare pricing, quotes, product recommendations, and other sales information for customers.
• Stay informed about market conditions, product availability, pricing, new products, and competitive activity.
• Work closely with purchasing, customer service, warehouse, transportation, and management to provide excellent service to customers.
• Assist customers with order questions, product availability, substitutions, special orders, and delivery-related issues.
• Maintain accurate customer and sales information and follow up on opportunities in a timely manner.
• Participate in sales meetings, customer visits, industry events, and company functions as needed.
