Job summary

University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks a Community Connector for the College of Health and Human Services. You will lead recruitment and outreach to attract top students to CHHS programs and promote healthcare education pathways in New Hanover County.

You will collaborate with schools, community partners, faculty, and staff to align pathway development, support workforce education, and advance the HCP mission funded by The Endowment.

Qualifications

• Master's in higher education, marketing, communications, or a related field.
• Experience working with or recruiting for health and human services programs.
• Experience in customer relationship management systems.
• Experience in recruitment, admissions, or student services.
• Evidence of successful experience in K-12 schools, public agencies, non-profit organizations, and/or local community groups.
• Evidence of experience in working with student populations in higher education or K-12.

The Community Connector will serve as a key program promoter for the College of Health and Human Services ( CHHS ) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington ( UNCW ). This role is responsible for recruitment and outreach initiatives to attract high-caliber students to CHHS programs, with a particular emphasis on increasing interest and enrollment in nursing and healthcare pathways to strengthen the workforce in New Hanover County.
The position will actively promote innovative pathway initiatives and programs that support healthcare education, knowledge progression and early student engagement in healthcare careers. The Community Connector will collaborate closely with community partners, schools, faculty, staff, and stakeholders to align recruitment and pathway development efforts.
This role also supports the mission of the New Hanover Healthcare Career Partnership ( HCP ), funded and supported by The Endowment, which is dedicated to expanding healthcare education opportunities and workforce development. The position will help advance initiatives connected to The Endowments core focus areas of Education, Community Development, Community Safety, and HCP project priorities.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

• Master's in higher education, marketing, communications, or a related field
• Experience working with or recruiting for health and human services programs
• Experience in customer relationship management systems
• Experience in recruitment, admissions, or student services

The Student Success Center ( SSC ) in the College of Health and Human Services ( CHHS ) at the University of North Carolina Wilmington ( UNCW ) supports students, staff, and faculty through programs and services that promote academic success, persistence, and career readiness. In collaboration with campus partners, the SSC focuses on:

Resource development for prospective, current, and alumni student populations
Student success initiatives and support services
