Job summary

Hanover Consumer Co-op Society is hiring for a Prepared Foods/ Cheese department role. You will support daily operations, stock and rotate products, and help drive cheese and prepared foods sales. You’ll train staff, manage inventory, pricing and promotions, and work with vendors to maintain margins.

Under the Dept. Manager and Assistant Dept. Manager, you’ll help schedule and staff the department, ensure safety standards, and represent the Co-op in a positive manner.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of supervisory experience preferred.
• One plus years and knowledge of local growers and product.
• Ability to represent the Co-op in a positive manner.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Proficiency in ECRS POS system and processes.
• Set an excellent example for new employees.
• Proficiency in use of computer software, Office 365, Excel and Word.
• Serve Safe certification acquired as needed.
• Excellent follow through.

Responsibilities

• Support daily operations of the Prepared Foods department and Cheese area.
• Assist with scheduling, staffing, and customer service.
• Promote Cheese and Prepared Foods sales and assist in operations.
• Maintain inventory, pricing, and promotions; accept special orders.
• Order product with staff, sales reps, and vendors as needed.
• Train, coach, supervise, and motivate department staff.
• Resolve staff issues with dept. manager.
• Set goals, monitor standards, and handle personnel actions.
• Discuss shrink, purchases and margins in open book management terms.
• Maintain dept. operations in the absence of leadership.
• Ensure products meet Co-op standards and are from approved vendors.
• Check Co-op email daily and participate in department meetings.
• Adhere to Co-op policies and safety procedures.
