Job summary

Hanover Consumer Cooperateive Society seeks a Produce Department Supervisor to maintain inventory, stock, and high-quality food service. You will partner with the Produce Manager and Store Manager to ensure smooth operations and strong customer satisfaction.

You will help manage budgets, enforce policies, and oversee daily department functions, including vendor relations and staff coverage. This role requires familiarity with local growers and proficient use of POS systems and office software.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of supervisory experience.
• Ability to represent the Co‑op in a positive manner.
• Two or more years of knowledge of local growers and products.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Proficiency in ECRS POS system and processes.
• Set an excellent example for new employees.
• Proficiency in computer software (Office365, Excel, Word).
• Serve Safe certification, or ability to obtain certification within 6 months.
• Excellent follow‑through.

Responsibilities

• Stay within the annual budget for the Produce Department in coordination with the Produce Manager.
• Follow the Manager’s Code of Conduct.
• Enforce and administer the Co‑op’s policies and procedures in a timely fashion and recommend any warranted changes.
• Orchestrate the daily functions of the Produce Department as needed.
• Manage Produce inventory, ordering, and vendor relations.
• Stock and merchandise all department areas.
• Work with the Produce Manager to ensure proper signage and clean, attractive displays and cases.
• Conduct or oversee regular meetings and huddles with the Produce Department in the absence of the Produce Manager.
• Maintain Produce Department sanitation procedures and ensure compliance with governmental regulations.
• Monitor and work with Supervisors on product rotation to ensure freshness.
• Ensure highest level of customer service, listening and responding to complaints and suggestions to improve Produce performance.
• Receive and handle call-outs for staff as needed.
• Check Co‑op email at least once per week.
• Set standard for expected behavior in adhering to all food safety procedures.
• Participate in department meetings and complete all required trainings for maintaining Co‑op standards.
• Adhere to all Co‑op policies, procedures and employee code of conduct.
• Other duties as assigned.
