Job summary

North Carolina Baptist Hospital seeks a Charge Nurse for the General Medicine unit to lead daily patient care operations and nurse leadership activities. You will oversee shift assignments, ensure safe, high-quality care, and collaborate with physicians and supervisors to maintain smooth unit functioning.

The role requires 2–4 years of progressive nursing experience, current NC/GA RN licensure, CPR certification, and a focus on rehabilitation nursing principles.

• Ability to objectively assess and analyze situations and employees in actual duties.
• Ability to function effectively under stress and to make sound judgments in critical situations.

Responsibilities

• Unit management to organize and manage the unit while ensuring safe, quality patient care.
• Assign shift plans based on staff education, experience and patient acuity.
• Monitor unit activities to ensure timely, neat, and appropriate task completion.
• Collaborate with Nurse Leadership to adjust schedules for safe, smooth unit operation.
• Supervise and delegate patient care as needed and notify physicians when patient conditions change.
• Document and communicate actions regarding disciplinary issues and performance evaluations.
• Lead safety, emergency drills and adherence to Rehabilitation Nursing Standards.
• Contribute to education and training activities for staff and participate in PI activities.
