Job summary

Grand Canyon University seeks an Office Student Assistant to support daily operations for the College of Engineering & Technology. You will handle clerical tasks, manage emails, answer phones, greet visitors, and help schedule events and maintain records.

You will enter data accurately in university systems, use Outlook/Teams/Trello/OneNote for tracking projects, and assist with promotional materials and community outreach.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled as a full-time student in a bachelor’s or master’s program at GCU.
  • Maintain the specified GPA thresholds for your program.
  • Maintain good financial and academic standing with the University.
  • Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and related software.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clerical and administrative duties to support daily office operations.
  • Manage department email inboxes.
  • Answer office phones and greet visitors professionally.
  • Schedule appointments, meetings, and events.
  • File, organize, and maintain department records.
  • Enter and update data in university systems with high accuracy.
  • Track completed work using Outlook, Teams, Trello, or OneNote.
  • Assist with office events, workshops, meetings, and department activities.
  • Track attendance and participation as needed.
  • Assist with promotional materials and student outreach efforts.
  • Provide basic technical support and troubleshoot common issues.
  • Support setup and maintenance of office equipment and digital systems.
  • Collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and external contacts.
  • Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Position Summary / Purpose

The purpose of this position is to support the daily operations, growth, and goals of the College of Engineering & Technology.

Core Responsibilities
  • Support the successful day-to-day operation of the office through assigned clerical and administrative duties.
  • Manage department email inboxes.
  • Answer office phone lines and respond to inquiries professionally.
  • Greet and assist office visitors.
  • Schedule appointments, meetings, and events.
  • File, organize, and maintain department records.
  • Enter and update data in university systems with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Track completed work and projects using platforms such as Outlook, Teams, Trello, or OneNote.
  • Assist with office events, workshops, meetings, and department activities by helping with event setup, operation, and teardown.
  • Track attendance and participation.
  • Assist with promotional materials and student outreach efforts to support communication efforts.
  • Provide basic technical support, including troubleshooting common technology issues.
  • Support the setup and maintenance of office equipment, computers, printers, and presentation technology.
  • Maintain digital files, shared drives, and online systems.
  • Assist with website, database, or software updates as needed.
  • Learn and utilize department software systems and technology tools effectively.
  • Collaborate professionally with students, faculty, staff, and external contacts to support departmental initiatives and daily operations.
  • Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn new technologies and software systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic troubleshooting or technical support experience preferred but not required.
Experience / Education Requirements
  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a bachelor’s program or master’s program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
  • Applicants may be subject to termination if they fall below the minimum requirements.

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage.

Anticipated End Date: June 30, 2027.
