Job summary

MSI Defense Solutions is seeking an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to lead visual weld inspections and ensure documentation aligns with AWS codes and customer requirements. You will review welding procedures, welder qualifications, and traceability, supporting manufacturing through quality assurance and continuous improvement.

The role requires a full-time shop-floor presence in Mooresville, NC, with a Monday-Thursday 6:00am–4:30pm schedule and potential overtime for project needs.

Qualifications

• AWS CWI certification in good standing.
• Minimum 5 years of welding inspection experience in a manufacturing or aerospace/defense environment.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and weld symbols.
• Familiarity with AWS welding codes and inspection requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual inspections of welded assemblies and verify conformance to drawings and specs.
• Review WPS/PQR/WPQ records and welder qualifications for compliance.
• Maintain complete, accurate, and traceable welding quality records.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for weld-related issues.
• Coordinate with quality, engineering, production and suppliers on inspection requirements.
• Ensure compliance with contract and customer flowdown in inspection procedures.
