Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Swim Lesson Instructor to provide leadership, instruction and motivation for participants in swimming lessons. You will create a safe, positive atmosphere promoting member safety, youth development and healthy living according to YMCA policies.

Responsibilities include conducting lessons, maintaining records, assisting with parent communication, and ensuring equipment readiness.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years.
• YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification required.
• Current ASHI certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, Child Abuse Prevention, Information Security Awareness, Workplace Harassment/Bullying, Universal Precautions, New Staff Orientation.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.

Responsibilities

• Conducts swim lessons as assigned.
• Maintains attendance and progress records.
• Provide feedback to students and parents.
• Perform daily equipment checks and prepare equipment for class.
• Attend staff trainings and meetings.
• May conduct private lessons or clinics as needed.
• Follow safety and reporting procedures.
