Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Swim Lesson Instructor to lead classes, promote safety and engage youth in aquatic programs. You will implement proven teaching methods, maintain records and ensure equipment readiness.

Requirements include at least 16 years of age, YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification and ASHI CPR/First Aid certifications before the first shift. The role supports a safe, positive learning environment and collaboration with aquatics leadership.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must obtain YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification prior to first shift.
• Must obtain ASHI CPR, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, and related trainings before starting.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.

Responsibilities

• Lead swim lessons and promote water safety according to YMCA standards.
• Maintain accurate attendance and progress records.
• Conduct equipment checks and prepare gear per lesson plans.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Provide feedback to students and communicate with parents about progress.
