Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a part-time Swim Lesson Instructor to lead swimming lessons, promote water safety and provide positive, developmental instruction for youth. You will follow YMCA policies, maintain accurate records, and engage with parents to support learning and safety.

You will also ensure equipment readiness, attend trainings, and contribute to a healthy, inclusive aquatics environment that aligns with our mission and core values.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must obtain YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification.
• Current ASHI certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people.
• Proficiency in four of the six strokes is required for swim assessment.

Responsibilities

• Lead swimming lessons and promote water safety per YMCA standards.
• Provide engaging, constructive feedback to students and parents.
• Maintain attendance and progress records as required.
• Perform daily equipment checks and prepare equipment before class.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Respond to emergencies following YMCA procedures.
