Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Swim Instructor to lead group and individual swim lessons, promote water safety and foster a positive learning environment for members and participants.

The role involves teaching 1–2 students per session, coordinating with parents, and maintaining records and equipment. Strong safety awareness and the ability to work with diverse families are essential.

Qualifications

• Must obtain YMCA Swim Instructor Certification before first instructional shift.
• ASHI CPR/First Aid/Emergency Oxygen certification required.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Lead and conduct swim lessons for 1–2 participants in accordance with YMCA standards.
• Coordinate with parents to schedule lessons.
• Maintain attendance and progress records; perform equipment checks.
• Attend all staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Follow YMCA policies, procedures and safety guidelines.
