Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston seeks a dedicated swim instructor to lead lessons, promote safety, and foster youth development in Katy, TX. You will create engaging, educational experiences, assess participant progress, and collaborate with aquatics leadership to ensure high-quality programs.

Expect to maintain certifications, follow emergency procedures, and contribute to a positive member experience while communicating with parents and staff during and after lessons.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16 years to participate in program activities.
• Must obtain YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Certification per YMCA standards.
• Must have or obtain ASHI CPR/First Aid/Emergency Oxygen and related trainings before first shift.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups from all social and economic segments.

Responsibilities

• Lead swimming lessons and maintain safety per YMCA policies.
• Know and follow emergency procedures and respond promptly.
• Maintain certifications and conduct daily equipment checks.
• Provide feedback to students and supportive communication with parents.
• Record attendance and progress as required by YMCA standards.
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings; may lead private lessons or clinics.
• Report unsafe behavior and comply with abuse/incident reporting requirements.
