Job summary

Holy Cross Hospital Salt Lake is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech to support a busy operating room. You will keep the suite organized, sterile, and ready for procedures, passing instruments to surgeons and nurses as needed.

Applicants should have a current surgical technology certification, strong attention to detail, and the ability to stay calm in a fast-paced surgical team. BLS and appropriate state registrations are required.

Qualifications

• Current surgical technology certification.
• Strong attention to detail and sterile technique.
• Ability to stay calm and communicate effectively in a fast-paced team.
• Current BLS (American Heart Association).
• Colorado DORA registration for Colorado-based associates.
• Certification NBSTSA or NCCT.

Responsibilities

• Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure by checking package integrity, indicators and opening procedures.
• Performs counts with circulator prior to operation, before incision, and as needed.
• Prepares back table and mayo stand according to surgeon's preference card.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications for the procedure.
• Provides on-call coverage outside of standard hours per policy.
• Anticipates problems and prepares for emergent cases that change workflow.
