Job summary

University of Utah Health is seeking a Surgical Technician for the Acute Care Complex (ACC) Operating Room in Salt Lake City, UT. The role involves preparing sterile instruments, assisting the surgeon, and maintaining a sterile field for procedures.

The candidate should have an accredited OR technician program (or military scrub tech) and 2 years of hands-on surgical tech experience, plus relevant certifications and an eCredential within 30 days of hire. Multidisciplinary teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an accredited O.R. Technician program, military training as a scrub tech.
• Two years of hands-on experience as a surgical technician.
• Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential within 30 days of hire.
• Current TS-C or CST certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon and surgical team with instruments and supplies.
• Maintain sterile field and ensure proper attire for team.
• Prepare, wrap, and sterilize instruments for reuse.
• Orient students and technicians to the unit and support quality improvement goals.
• Coordinate equipment borrowing/lending as directed.
