The Surgical Technologist II is responsible for setting up the sterile field, gathering supplies for surgical cases based on knowledge of instruments and equipment, and passing instruments to surgeons during surgery. This role also performs count procedures during surgical cases as per policy.
Serves as a resource and preceptor to less experienced Surgical Technologists and takes call for routine and high-acuity cases after the orientation period. Learns, performs, and completes assigned responsibilities during the transitional duty period.
Functions under RN or independent practitioner supervision, providing direct patient care, emotional support, and problem solving in accordance with hospital policies. Requires prior approval for schedule changes or care deviations. May handle medications and supplies.
Age-specific groups served as appropriate. No supervisory responsibilities. Schedules may be adjusted to meet staffing needs.
