Qualifications

• 0–2 years of operating room surgical technician experience.
• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program required.
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating room and equipment for procedures based on procedure and physician preference card.
• Maintain sterile field and apply universal precautions, asepsis and sterile technique.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments promptly during procedures.
• Inspect, clean and sterilize instruments and equipment per manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
• Perform counts of sponge, needle and instruments with circulating nurse to ensure patient safety.
• Assist with patient positioning, draping and transfer under RN direction.
• Restock supplies, clean and return equipment, and prepare rooms for subsequent cases.
• Maintain compliance with policies and standards.
