Job summary

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program is required.
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences is required.
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room by ensuring instruments, equipment, and supplies are set up for the procedure.
• Maintains a sterile field throughout surgery using universal precautions and aseptic technique.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments accurately and efficiently.
• Handles instruments and equipment per manufacturer directions and hospital policy.
• Counts sponges, needles, and instruments with the circulating nurse to support patient safety.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping, and transfer under RN direction.
• Supports documentation and maintenance of physician preference cards and procedures.
• Restocks supplies, cleans equipment, and prepares rooms for subsequent cases.
