Job summary

Community Health Systems seeks a Certified Surgical Technician to support the operating room team in delivering safe, high-quality patient care. The role involves preparing the sterile field, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring proper handling and sterilization of instruments and supplies.

The technician will assist with patient positioning, draping, instrument counts, and OR turnover while maintaining infection prevention standards and compliance with hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Proven knowledge of sterile technique and instrument handling.
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and pass tools accurately.
• Familiarity with Universal Precautions and infection control standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare OR by setting up instruments, equipment, and supplies per procedure.
• Maintain sterile field throughout procedures.
• Assist with instrument passing and equipment handling per surgeon needs.
• Inspect, clean, and sterilize instruments per policy.
• Count sponges, needles, and instruments with circulating nurse for safety.
• Assist with patient positioning and draping under RN direction.
• Maintain physician preference cards and procedure documentation.
• Restock supplies and prepare rooms for next case.
