Job summary

Middlebrook Surgery Center in Knoxville, TN seeks a Surgical Technician – Certified to join the perioperative team. You will prepare the OR, maintain sterility, anticipate surgeon needs, and ensure safe handling of instruments throughout procedures. The role supports OR efficiency and infection prevention protocols.

Required CST and BLS certifications, 0-2 years of OR experience, and a commitment to patient safety and high-quality care. Day shifts with no weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program.
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences.
• 0-2 years of OR surgical technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room by setting up instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Maintains a sterile field and adheres to aseptic technique.
• Anticipates needs of the surgeon and passes instruments efficiently.
• Handles instruments and equipment per policy, including sterilization and inspection.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping, and transfer under RN direction.
• Supports maintenance of physician preference cards and documentation.
• Restocks supplies and prepares rooms for subsequent cases.
• Maintains regular attendance and complies with policies.
