Job summary

Community Health Systems, Inc. is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to join our operating room team. You will prepare the OR, maintain the sterile field, pass instruments, and help ensure patient safety throughout procedures.

Responsibilities include adhering to infection control protocols, inspecting equipment, counting sponges and needles with the circulating nurse, and assisting with patient positioning. CST and BLS certification are required.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program required.
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences required.
• 0-2 years of operating room surgical technician experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room by ensuring instruments, equipment, and supplies are set up per procedure.
• Maintain a sterile field throughout the procedure using aseptic technique.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments efficiently during surgery.
• Handle instruments and equipment per policy, including inspection and sterilization.
• Count sponges, needles, and instruments with the circulating nurse.
• Assist with patient positioning, draping, and transfer under RN direction.
• Maintain physician preference cards and procedural documentation.
