Qualifications

• Technical School diploma in Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing.
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences.
• 0–2 years operating room surgical technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room with instruments, equipment, and supplies per procedure and physician preference card.
• Maintains a sterile field using universal precautions and sterile technique throughout procedures.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments and supplies efficiently during operations.
• Handles instruments per manufacturer instructions and hospital policy including cleaning and sterilization.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse to support safety.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping, and transfer under RN guidance.
• Maintains physician preference cards and procedural documentation accuracy.
• Restocks supplies, cleans and returns equipment, and prepares rooms for next cases.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains regular attendance.
• Complies with all policies and standards.
