Job summary

New Mexico Medical Group in Roswell, NM is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to support the operating room team. You will prepare and maintain the sterile field, pass instruments, and assist with patient positioning to ensure safe, efficient procedures.

This role requires CST certification, BLS, and 0-2 years OR experience; technical schooling or an associate degree in surgical technology is expected. You will help with infection control, instrument handling, and OR counts.

Qualifications

• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist required.
• BLS - Basic Life Support required.
• 0-2 years operating room surgical technician experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room with instruments, equipment and supplies per procedure.
• Maintains a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments and supplies promptly.
• Handles instruments per manufacturer instructions and hospital policy, including sterilization.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse.
• Assists with patient positioning and draping under RN direction.
• Maintains physician preference cards and procedural documentation.
• Restocks supplies and cleans equipment; prepares rooms for next cases.
• Performs other duties as assigned; maintains attendance and complies with policies.
