Job summary

New Mexico Medical Group seeks a Surgical Technician to support the perioperative team during procedures. You will prepare sterile fields, assist with instrument handling, and ensure adherence to infection control standards to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualified candidates have Surgical Technology training and 0–2 years OR experience, with strong teamwork and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate of Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program.
• Associate Degree in Surgical Technology or Applied Sciences.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains the operating room for surgical cases with aseptic technique.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments accurately during procedures.
• Ensures proper sterilization, inspection, and assembly of instruments.
• Performs counts of sponges, needles, and instruments with the circulating nurse.
• Assists in patient positioning, draping, and transfers for procedures.
• Maintains physician preference cards and ensures supplies are available.
• Reprocesses and sterilizes instruments following established protocols.
• Restocks supplies and prepares OR for subsequent cases.
• Performs other duties as assigned and maintains attendance.
