Job summary

Parrish Medical Center in Titusville, FL seeks a Certified Surgical First Assistant to support the Operating Room team. The role includes exposure, hemostasis, closure, and intraoperative assistance under the surgeon's direction.

Responsibilities include maintaining sterile fields, preparing the OR, assisting with patient positioning and rapid response to emergencies, and contributing to quality improvements and education for perioperative staff.

Qualifications

• Graduate from surgical assisting programs accredited through ARC/STSA, NBCSTSA or CAAHEP.
• 1 year to < 2 years of experience as a certified surgical technologist.
• Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification required.
• BLS through The American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

• Functions as a member of the surgical team for invasive and non-invasive procedures; maintains sterile field integrity and ensures accurate counts.
• Assembles and opens supplies and equipment; prepares OR for procedures and anticipates case-specific needs.
• Assists with patient positioning, transport and direct patient care as appropriate.
• Participates in emergency surgical response with rapid activation times.
• Maintains instrument sets, updates physician preference cards and ensures equipment is safe and ready for use.
• Provides case prep, materials handling and turnover; assists with wound closure and hemostasis as directed.
