Fairview Hospital / Cleveland Clinic is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assistant to provide direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures under the surgeon’s direction. The role involves assisting with retraction, hemostasis, port and trocar placement, suturing, and maintaining sterile technique to ensure patient safety and efficient operating room workflow.

The candidate should anticipate needs and support infection-control practices.

Qualifications

• Certification as a Surgical First Assistant.
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical assistance procedures.
• Ability to follow surgeon direction while supporting safe, effective surgical outcomes.
• Excellent situational awareness and readiness to respond to changing intraoperative needs.

Responsabilités

• Assist in procedures by performing surgical tasks such as retraction and hemostasis.
• Support operative workflows with suturing assistance as directed.
• Assist with port and trocar placement.
• Maintain a sterile field and uphold infection-control practices.
• Anticipate surgical needs and prepare required instruments and supplies.
