Job summary

Ascension in Nashville, TN, is seeking a Surgical Tech to support the operating room team. You will anticipate instrument needs, position and drape patients with care, and help maintain a sterile field to ensure patient safety throughout procedures.

The role requires BLS within 30 days of hire, NBSTSA/NCCT credential or equivalent experience, and appropriate education as listed. This position is full-time in the Operating Room department.

Qualifications

• Required BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Surgical Tech credential from NBSTSA or NCCT prior to hire.
• If not credentialed, 18 months of surgical technologist experience in the 3 years preceding 5/21/07 or training started before 5/21/07 and completed by 5/21/10.

Responsibilities

• Act as the right hand to our surgeons by anticipating instrument needs and ensuring readiness.
• Guard patient safety with precise positioning, draping, and maintaining dignity throughout procedures.
• Maintain 100% accuracy in instrument and sponge counts to protect patient safety from incision to closure.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s): BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following: Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Per Tennessee Code (TCA) 68-57-101(a), non-certified applicants must have 18 months of surgical technologist experience in the 3 years preceding 5/21/07; or began the appropriate surgical technologist training prior to 5/21/07 and completed by 5/21/10.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
